We consistently exceed build standards, setting a benchmark for sustainable living in the South West.
New vs old home – energy savings
New build homes use 60% less energy than older properties, reducing energy bills by over £130 per month and saving homeowners over £1,570 annually. Comparing houses specifically, the potential annual savings rise to over £1,980.
New build houses are 65% more energy efficient, resulting in monthly savings of around £165 and annual savings of over £1,980.
It costs around £70,000 to bring an average 3-bedroom second-hand home up to the same energy efficiency as a new Strongvox EcoWise home.
Strongvox EcoWise energy performance
New build properties are increasingly energy efficient, with all Strongvox EcoWise Homes achieving an A or B EPC rating, compared to only 5% of older properties.
New vs old home – Water savings
New build homes save households £120 by cutting water usage. Last year’s new build homeowners saved over 3,300 Olympic-sized swimming pools worth of water and received average 27% cheaper bills compared to older properties, new research shows.
Water Save report findings
The ‘Water Save’ report by the Home Builders Federation examines new build homes in England and Wales. It finds new build households use 96,000 liters of water annually, compared to 130,000 liters in existing properties. New build homes have saved over 42 billion liters of water in the last five years, equivalent to four times the Thames’ daily water flow.
With water resources strained by climate change, population growth, and demand, the home building industry and new build residents contribute to water conservation efforts.
