1. Heritage Trail at Bovey Tracey
At Bovey Tracey, the Heritage Trail is a popular walking route that acquaints visitors with the town’s history and culture. The circular walk is easy-going and provides an audio guide from the Visitor Information Centre. The trail starts from the remains of the 18th century Dartmoor Railway line at Haytor Down and takes you through some of the town’s most picturesque sights, including the famous Devon canals.

2. Okehampton Circular Walk
Okehampton offers some of the best walking routes in Devon, and the Okehampton Circular Walk is a standout option. This 5.5-mile trail is manageable for walkers of all ages and experience levels. Along the way, you’ll pass through some of the region’s most stunning landmarks, including the Okehampton Castle. The natural beauty and wildlife will also captivate you as you traverse this remarkable region.

3. St Lawrence Chapel Walk at Ashburton
Ashburton is another small town in the Dartmoor region that is home to some of the most breathtaking natural trails. One of the most popular walks starts at the high street and lasts for approximately 3.5 miles – the St. Lawrence Chapel Walk. This well-defined route makes for an easy trek and offers some of the loveliest views of the natural Devonshire countryside, making it an ideal weekend hike for families.

4. Two Moors Way at Dartmoor
The Two Moors Way is one of the most challenging yet awe-inspiring walking routes that takes you through Dartmoor and Exmoor national parks. It covers approximately 102 miles and can take up to 6 days to traverse. Along the route, you’ll have the chance to visit the ancient Bridges, famous Tors, and quaint villages situated within the Dartmoor National Park. The route offers endless acres of valleys, forests and moors, providing an unforgettable experience that will leave you longing for more.
