First Time Buyer Initiative, Ilminster - Gets Thumbs Up From Developer 08/10/2008
A government initiative designed to support first time buyers has been praised by Taunton-based new homes developer, Strongvox, although the company feels that more could be done to promote the scheme.
Called My Choice Homebuy, the scheme works by offering purchasers a low-cost shared equity loan of between 15% to 50% of the value of the property. For example, if someone qualified for a mortgage of £80,000, it means they could potentially purchase a property worth £150,000 or more.
Toby Ballard, Managing Director, said “This is an excellent scheme that has already resulted in sales at a number of our developments. It is ideal for first time buyers and key workers who want to join the property ladder.”
He added “In these difficult times anything that makes it easier for purchasers is welcomed and we are planning a number of special My Choice Homebuy open days at our developments to outline the finer details of the scheme.” Strongvox has a number of developments offering the My Choice Homebuy initiative including The Maltings, the company’s rural new homes development in the village of Ilminster. A picturesque show home plus a view home are currently open for viewings at The Maltings, which will comprise 35 two, three and four bedroom homes in detached, semi detached and terrace styles.
